Easter Basket Ideas for a Baby and Toddler

With Easter being just a few weeks away, I’m starting to put together Easter baskets for the kids. I don’t know what it is about this year, but so far these first few months of 2023 have FLOWN by, so Easter has completely snuck up on me.

This one is extra special since we have baby Noah added to the mix, so I get the joy of putting together a toddler girl and baby boy Easter basket. One of my favorite things about holidays as a mama is making it extra special for my children. It’s hard to not go overboard (my personality is a go-big-or-go-home kind), so I have to reign it in with purposeful items that they need or will actually use. And if you’ve been following me on instagram for any amount of time, you’ve seen that I’ve been in a major purging and decluttering mode, so I want there to be purpose with items I put in their Easter baskets, instead of just adding more clutter.

A few years ago a friend told me her motto for gift buying for her kids and it has stuck with me.

The four categories are, “ a want, a need, something to wear, something to read.” This will help reign in my desire for going overboard and keep things affordable. Plus, I think the saying “less is more” can absolutely be true with children, so keeping the gifts simple and purposeful will create space for contentment, imaginative play, and less clutter. Obviously, a 9 month old can’t communicate a “want”, so mama will determine those items for now, but it’ll be really fun to surprise Emmie with something she occasionally asks for but doesn’t have yet.

I’ve already begun getting a few things for the kids baskets, but will be finishing them up as we get closer to April. Here are a few pictures for inspiration of items you could include in a baby or toddler Easter basket. Click on the pictures to shop items linked over on my LTK.

One of my favorite items pictured that was gifted to us is the lovey from Brownie Points. Noah sleeps with it everyday, so it has become a necessity to have it nearby to comfort him. Brownie Points is a KC based business, created and run by a mama, Bri. Her heart and mission behind her business is one of the many reasons I love them. For every lovey purchased, BP donates a lovey to a local NICU baby to comfort families while they balance the big challenges and distance that they are often faced with.

Another item in Emmie’s Easter basket that we really love is the book, “God Cares How I Feel” from The Daily Grace Co. This book and many other resources are just $5 right now and ship really quickly! We have several books for the kids and myself from DG, so we are big fans! This book in particular is a good one for Emmie as we teach her about her big emotions, how God created those emotions, and how we can glorify Him through our emotions. For toddlers specifically, we also have “Sophia Learns to Pray” and “31 days of prayer” cards that we go through as a family during meal times. Lots of great resources for the whole fam that are perfect Easter basket fillers!
